Gustometry in various variants of bronchial asthma: Sensitivity thresholds for bitter and sweet tast

چکیده
The first studies were published on the possible pathogenetic role of so-called ectopically localized taste receptors in bronchial asthma. for bitter and sweet taste, may, apparently, have opposite functions, but available literature there is no data balance sensitivity tastes same patients with aim present work to simultaneously assess canonical lingual different clinical variants asthma by methods applicable wide practice. 16 healthy persons 35 examined at M.V. Chernorutsky Clinics Hospital Therapy First St. Petersburg State I. Pavlov Medical University. was assessed using Frey Scientific 569885 PTC Taste Paper test strip kit containing phenylthiourea solution. Sucrose solutions concentrations 0.3; 0,4; 0,5; 0,6; 0,7; 0,8; 0,9 % determination individual value thresholds used. bitter-to-sweet basis an original “bitter/sweet sensitivity” index. highest values index bitter/sweet found allergic variant asthma: its are significantly from those only low sucrose (0.3-0.4%). factor analysis revealed association between imbalance (a shift towards high taste) key characteristics asthma, including severity course, duration inhaled glucocorticosteroid use inefficiency β2-agonists pre-clinical stage. It has been gustometry that a decreased substance (phenylthiourea), along higher (sucrose).

Human platelet antigen polymorphism in bronchial asthma
Background: Asthma is recognized as a common cause of disability, of great economic cost, and of preventable deaths. In this study we aimed to test our hypothesis to evaluate the relationship between the Human Platelet Antigen-1(HPA-1) polymorphism and bronchial asthma and its severity, which would suggest genetic variances that may be responsible for expression or activation of these receptors...

Background: Colic (abdominal pain) is a clinical condition of serious concern affecting the welfare and survival of donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary in the UK. One of the most commonly reported causes is due to impacted ingesta in the large intestine ("impaction colic"). However little is known about the incidence of, or risk factors for, this condition. Here we describe the epidemiology of coli...
متن کاملIndependent, reciprocal neuromodulatory control of sweet and bitter taste sensitivity during starvation in Drosophila.
An organism's behavioral decisions often depend upon the relative strength of appetitive and aversive sensory stimuli, the relative sensitivity to which can be modified by internal states like hunger. However, whether sensitivity to such opposing influences is modulated in a unidirectional or bidirectional manner is not clear. Starved flies exhibit increased sugar and decreased bitter sensitivi...
